Rail Shipments to/from Midwest - Update #3
19 June 2008
APL Valued Customer,
We are pleased to advise that the Union Pacific Railroad has cancelled their embargo for rail shipments moving to and from Chicago effective today. Although the embargo has been lifted, repair work in the area continues and it is anticipated that it will be a while before operations are fully returned to normal.
As such, given the restrictions still in place, the backlog of shipments needing to move via the rail line and the maintenance still required to be performed on the impacted tracks, you should continue to anticipate delays of 72 hours or more for both import and export cargo movements to, from or through the Midwest for the remainder of the week.
Please check www.apl.com, Customer Advisories for further updates on the situation. As specific container transit information becomes available, it will also be available on www.apl.com in the Tracking section.
