Taiwan Quarantine Bureau – Compliance to International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) #15 Standard for Wood Packing Materials (WPM) entering Taiwan
28 November 2008
Dear Valued Customer,
From 1 January 2009, all shipments with WPM entering Taiwan must comply with the ISPM #15 standard. Shipments will be subjected to inspection by the Taiwan Quarantine Bureau. In cases where WPM are not properly treated and marked, port authorities are permitted to re-export, have it treated or destroyed at the importer’s expense.
We strongly encourage you to visit the following website to understand the implications of this rule if you are involved in importing WPM to Taiwan:
http://www.baphiq.gov.tw/lp.asp?ctNode=1712&CtUnit=851&BaseDSD=7&mp=2
The ISPM #15 standard aims to reduce the risk of introducing and/or the spreading of quarantine pests associated with WPM, made of coniferous and non coniferous raw wood, in use throughout international trade.
Please contact your local APL sales or customer service representative if you have any further questions.
