New Regulations governing the Import of Used Cars to Saudi Arabia

08 May 2009

Dear Valued Customer:

Effective 1st June 2009, the import of used cars to Saudi Arabia will be restricted to car models of the current year and those not exceeding five years from the date of Import.

Shippers are required to provide a copy of the vehicle certificate issued by the country of origin at the point of booking. This certificate will need to state the model, chassis number and the car’s date of production. This information must also be stated on the Bill of Lading.

Strict enforcement by local authorities is expected. Failure to comply may result in the cargo being re-exported to origin. Penalties may also be imposed on both the shipper and carrier. Therefore, please ensure that your shipment of used cars comply with the above regulation to avoid incurring penalties.

As always, don’t hesitate to contact your local customer service or APL representative, if you require further assistance.

Yours sincerely.
