Chile Status Update
02 March 2010
In the wake of the devastating earthquake that claimed more than 700 lives in Chile last week, APL and APL Logistics are working to restore operations as quickly as possible. Here is a status update:
• There have been no reports of injury to our staff members, though due to telecommunications difficulties, we haven’t made contact with every employee.
• Our warehouse complex in Comuna de Padahuel in Santiago is temporarily closed due to earthquake damage. We’re currently assessing the damage and will announce a date for re-opening when we’ve finalized our recovery plans.
• Our port terminal in San Antonio is open but severely congested in the aftermath of the earthquake. This week’s vessel call (APL Colima, VO43) omitted San Antonio and has been diverted. We’ll update vessel schedules as information becomes available.
• Container pick-up and delivery at the port of San Antonio continues with moderate delays.
• Our offices in Santiago are operating on a normal schedule. Phone service is returning to normal.
With damage to roads, ports and other infrastructure, recovery from the earthquake will take time. We will provide operational status updates as conditions change.
If you have questions about our operations or your cargo, please contact your APL representative.
