Compliance Certificate Required for Certain Commodities Destined to Iraq

Iraq ‘s Ministry of Planning - Central Organization of Standardization & Quality Control (COSQC) has implemented a regulation which requires certain commodities destined to Iraq to undergo inspection at origins by either Bureau Veritas or SGS. Upon completing the inspection, Bureau Veritas or SGS will issue a compliance certificate, which is to be used for clearing Iraqi Customs at destination. This regulation came into effect on 1st July 2011.

The COSQC regulation written in Iocal language and its translation in English are attached. The types of commodities which are subjected to inspection are listed in the regulation.

We remind you to comply with this new COSQC’s requirement to avoid any delays or penalties for non-compliance.
