WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A BOOMERANG BOX JR. VISIT

Boomerang Box Jr. will be available for student visits on the date and times noted in your confirmation letter. Boomerang Box Jr. can accommodate approximately 15-20 students at one time. Each group's visit will take approximately 30 minutes.

Boomerang Box Jr. will arrive at your location 30 to 60 minutes prior to your scheduled visit. Boomerang Box Jr. is a 20-foot cargo container pulled on a semi-truck trailer. It will be accompanied by a truck driver and local APL representative.

We will require a safe, flat off-street parking area for Boomerang Box Jr. The parking location will need to be approximately 50 feet by 10 feet. The parking location will need to be easily and safely accessible for students and must have access to electricity. We will work with you to find an appropriate parking place for Boomerang Box Jr. We will need help from someone at your organization to help us position the truck and to unload and secure the 12-foot long, handicapped accessible ramp students will use to enter the container.

When students arrive at Boomerang Box Jr. they will first have the opportunity to look at the artwork on the outside of the container. This artwork was created by students from around the country.

They will then climb a 12-foot long, handicapped accessible ramp into the container. The interior of the container has been outfitted as a classroom with interactive exhibits on the walls. The students will be welcomed and given the opportunity to look around briefly. They will then watch a 7-10 minute video, which reviews the basic how's and why's of trade and then follows an imaginary shipment on the Boomerang Box. Students will then have a chance to ask questions of the APL representative. They will then be given a worksheet which you have downloaded for them which they can complete by using the exhibits on the walls. As they leave Boomerang Box Jr., students will be able to leave behind any artwork they have created for their visit. Student artwork will be posted on the corkboard inside the container and taken to the next school.

Boomerang Box Jr. will leave your location after its visit. We will need your assistance as it leaves to ensure that students are kept well away from its path.
