Take the Boomerang Box Great Toy Challenge!

Dear Teacher:

How would you like to get your students excited about map-reading and geography while they learn about helping people in other countries?

Take the Boomerang Box Great Toy Challenge!

During fall 2002, the APL Boomerang Box launched its Second Annual Great Toy Challenge, a partnership between APL Limited, Toys "R" Us, and international relief organization CARE. During October and November 2002, classrooms had the opportunity to use the clues provided on the Boomerang Box Web site to guess the Boomerang Box's mystery destination, as it carried a load of donated toys to needy children.

Although the Great Toy Challenge is over, you can still use it in your classroom. Your students can attempt to decipher the clues to the mystery destination… and then learn instantly whether they're figured it out correctly. And you can download curriculum materials that conform to the National Geography Standards about the mystery destination, international relief, geography, and trade.

Here's how you can use the Boomerang Box Web site and the materials from the 2002 Great Toy Challenge in your classroom.
