Have you ever wondered who decides where the Boomerang Box should travel? Meet Tina Montgomery, APL's Boomerang Box Project Manager.
When the Boomerang Box travels from port to port carrying cargo, Tina is the person who makes it move. She works with APL representatives around the world to find customers who are interested in shipping their products in this special cargo container. Then she arranges all the logistics, or details, of the Box's travels so that it visits interesting ports and doesn't spend too long at any one place. She keeps in regular contact with her colleagues at the ports the Boomerang Box is visiting so that she knows exactly where the Box is and what it is carrying at all times.
Tina began her career at APL Limited as a sales representative. She worked with customers who had products to move by ship, truck, or train. Tina worked in APL's Boston and Oakland offices before moving to Seattle in 1995. When the Boomerang Box Project began in 1997, Tina was asked to manage it because she knew so much about the services APL provided and the routes its ships traveled. Her contacts around the world have come in handy as she's worked with people on every continent to keep the Boomerang Box moving.
But how does Tina keep the Boomerang Boxand its companion mobile classroom, Boomerang Box Jr.moving all over the globe from her office in Seattle, Washington? Download the case study and find out!
