For a major longan fruit grower in China, breaking into the U.S. market had always been a challenge. They faced strict U.S. quarantine regulations on the import of fresh longan due to concerns over possible pest infestation.

Solution

APL’s solution was to apply Cold Treatment (CT) – a special post-harvest handling process that is an environmentally safe alternative to fumigation in order to eradicate pests. The innovative use of CT, combined with APL’s expert handling, ensured that this first ever consignment of fresh longan from China passed through the U.S. quarantine checks successfully.
