Railroads embargo all hazardous commodities with Poison Inhalation Hazards

The Union Pacific Railroad will no longer accept cargo designated as a Poison Inhalation Hazard by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) effective January 1, 2006. All other U.S. railroads have already placed an embargo on Poison Inhalation Hazard commodities and no railroad in the U.S. will now move these commodities.

In order to comply with these rail restrictions, APL will now only accept Poison Inhalation Hazard commodities for port-to-port moves or moves by motor-bridge.

Any Poison Inhalation Hazard commodities that are received by the railroad prior to January 1, 2006 will be moved to destination.
