APL Suez Express supports success of US East Coast customers

APL SZX offers a fast, reliable and complementary alternative to the fast-filling Panama Canal

The Suez Express (SZX) offers an entirely new transportation solution for customers who are increasingly diversifying their supply chains throughout Asia, and using multiple gateways to flow freight into the US market.

In terms of port coverage and transit time, the weekly SZX is quite simply a market leader.

Eight vessels of between 4,000 and 4,500 TEU connect South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent with the US East Coast, via the Suez Canal.

When an APL SZX ship departs Singapore laden with an array of Asian-made products, it arrives in New York just 21 days later. Other standout transit times include: Singapore to Charleston and Savannah in 24 and 25 days, respectively.

APL CEO, Ron Widdows, said: "APL SZX is a solution for customers who demand rapid supply chain fulfillment despite the challenges posed by port and rail congestion in North America. We are certain that they will value the speed, scope and reliability of APL SZX, which enhances our existing Suez and Transpacific services."

APL SZX port rotation is Port Klang-Singapore-Colombo-New York-Charleston-Savannah-Norfolk-Jebel Ali-Port Klang-Singapore. APL SZX also welcomes cargo via APL feeder services from markets such as Bangladesh, South and East India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. The service is also a competitive proposition for markets such as Hong Kong, South China and even Western Australia.

"This service provides customers across these markets in a range of business sectors, including fashion apparel and perishables, with more choices as they consider how best to flow their cargo, given the challenges and potential for impact on their supply chains," added Mr Widdows.

APL SZX offers a complementary alternative to the Panama Canal, but Panama remains an integral part of APL's offering. We also recently announced the launch of the ESX all-water service between Asia and the US East Coast.

"APL SZX is in keeping with APL's tradition of raising the bar in terms of transit times, market coverage and reliability, and developed in response to customers who demand solutions with multiple ports and gateways that maximize product delivery certainty," concluded Mr Widdows.
