Make APL's Schedules Your Own

Nov 24, 2004 - Complex paper-based shipping schedules are set to become a thing of the past with APL's new Customizable Schedules tool enabling shippers to quickly and easily tailor their own schedule reports.

This new, powerful on-line tool enables APL's customers to access the company's vessel schedules worldwide and select multiple point-to-point services, which can be customized into a single report - greatly simplifying the forward planning of shipments.

With the majority of APL's customers already regularly accessing schedules over the Web, there will be widespread and immediate benefit from this new value-add tool.

Using the Customizable Schedules tool on APL's award-winning HomePort® (www.apl.com/schedules/schedules.html), customers can now create their own tailored reports of up to 20 global location pairs, which can be saved or sent in a range of formats (HTML, PDF, MS Excel) to suit the customer or their business partners. Leading-edge 'push' technology automatically generates reports, which can be timed to be e-mailed to a customer or multiple recipients to coincide with their planning cycles.

Information Technology has already transformed many of the shipping industry's traditional paper-based systems and processes through the introduction of e-mail and Web-based tools. This latest innovation - another industry first - adds to APL's comprehensive suite of e-commerce tools, providing customers with highly customized, personalized information at their fingertips, anytime, anywhere, without having to search through screeds of paper or web pages and spending time compiling schedules.

Customized Schedules also allows customers to link directly through to vessel information and make a booking - in one seamless process.

Customizable Schedules is another example of APL's commitment to continually focusing on adding value for customers through IT and e-commerce tools that save time, reduce costs and improve control of their shipments.
