Data Source

Your shipment data in QuickReport is the same data source that drives the Shipment channel in your HomePort. Following is more information about the data.
  • Source of Data: QuickReport's data is extracted from our mainframe computer in California. The data in our mainframe is updated continually with real-time updates from all around the world.
  • Frequency of Update: The shipment data is updated twice a day at approximately 11am & 8pm Pacific time.
  • Data Fields Available: There are over 60 data fields available in QuickReport. The data fields are organized by categories when building a new report. These categories are Bill of Lading, Container, Customs, Dates, Locations, Shipment and Vessel.
  • What time period is available?: All currently active shipments are available at any particular time. This normally covers a two to three month period.

QuickReport Page Layout

The following describes the contents of the QuickReport Web page from left to right and down.
  • Report Name: The name of the report you are currently working on. To change it, use the "Save As" option in the "Report Options" drop-down list.
  • Sorted By: The current sorting criteria associated with the report. If there is no sort criteria, "N/A" will appear. See the Report Options section below for more information on sorting.
  • Data as of: The date and time that your shipment data was last updated. The time zone is Pacific time.
  • Filters: The current data filter criteria associated with the report. If no filters are active, "N/A" will appear. See the Report Options section below for more information on filters.
  • Report Options: A drop-down list with a menu of options for managing the active report, such as formatting and delivery.
  • Report Library: A drop-down list containing all custom and standard reports. Here you can access existing reports or create a new one from scratch.
  • Report Contents: A spreadsheet-like view of your shipment data including the data field names in the first row and 20 rows of shipment data below. At the bottom of the report, there may be a list of numbers that are hyperlinked. These indicate how many 20-row pages of data you have. You can jump to any page by clicking on the number.

Report Library

Report Library is a listing of all custom and standard APL reports. Here you can access existing reports or create a new one from scratch.
  • New Report: To create a report from scratch. Steps include selecting the data fields, naming the report and ordering the columns.
  • Custom Reports: If you have created custom reports, they will be listed after the 'New Report' link.
  • Standard Reports: Five standard reports are available as follows:
    • Inbound Next 7 Days
    • Inbound Shipments
    • Outbound Next 7 Days
    • Outbound Shipments
    • Shipment Status These reports have been pre-formatted to specifications of popular reports we have delivered to customers via other methods.

Report Options

Report Options is a drop-down list with a menu of options for managing the active report, such as formatting and delivery.  The following is a description of all the report options available.

  • Rename: Changes the name of the current report. This option does not make a copy.
  • Save As: Creates a copy of the current report and saves it under the new name entered. It is useful for renaming a standard report that you have customized. It is not necessary to save a report unless you want to copy it under a new name. All other changes to reports are saved automatically.
  • Delete: Removes the current report from your Report Library.
  • Sort: Sorts your shipment data by the column you select. For example, if you sort by destination, your data will be sorted by destination alphabetically from A to Z. If you sort a numeric value it will sort from high to low. You can have more than one level of sorting. For example, you can first sort by 'load vessel/voyage' and then second by 'destination'. This will sort the data by vessel/voyage and then by destination within each vessel/voyage.
  • Clear Sort: Removes all sort settings currently in effect.
  • Insert Columns: Allows you to add data fields fields to your report by inserting them to the column location you select. A pop-up window appears in which you select your data fields.
  • Delete Columns: Allows you to delete columns from your report. Simply 'unclick' the box beneath the columns you wish to delete.
  • Re-arrange Columns: Change the column order of your data fields. A box will appear below each data field which is numbered to its current column location. Simply change the current column order number to change to a new number.
  • Filter: This is the most powerful of the report options. Basically it allows you to reduce the amount of data that you are viewing in the report. The filter option give you a list of all the valid values for each column of data for your shipments. Let's say you only want to look at shipments loaded in Hong Kong. You would select from the LOAD PORT column the 'Hong Kong' value. When you click the filter button, only shipments loaded in Hong Kong will appear in your report. You can continue to filter the report so the only those shipments that have not cleared customs that were loaded in Hong Kong are showing.
  • Remove Filters: Removes all filter settings so that all shipments appear on your report.
  • Printer Version: This option will format the Web page so that it is suitable for printing. Normally when you print a long Web page you cannot control the page breaks and they include all the navigation images. QuickReport lets you control the page breaks with a row adjustment link. It also includes headers on each page and eliminates extraneous information. If your report is wide and requires landscape printing, you would reduce the number of rows per page with the row adjustment link.
  • Download Spreadsheet: If you prefer more advanced formatting options you have the option to download the report to your spreadsheet program on your computer. In order to get the spreadsheet to launch automatically, you must associate the XLS file extension with your spreadsheet program. Note: the data is tab-delimited with a file name of "reportname.xls".
  • Email Scheduler: Another powerful QuickReport option, you can even schedule your reports to be delivered via your email address any time you choose. For example, you could have Report A delivered every Tuesday and Report B delivered on the 15th of each month. If you select the 31st of the month, in April the report would be delivered on the 30th.
