IMPOSITION OF DELAY RECOVERY SURCHARGE FOR SHIPMENTS TO AND FROM SOKHNA PORT.

Dear Valued Customers,

We wish to inform you that in view of the deteriorating labour situation at the port of Sokhna,  APL will implement a Delay Recovery Surcharge for shipments destined to and originating from Sokhna effective from 22 February 2013.

The applicable charges for imports and exports are:

EGP 1,220 per 20’ dry, Flat Rack, Open Top or Tank container

EGP 2,440 per 40’ dry, 40’ high cube dry, 45’ dry, 40’ Flat Rack, Open Top or Tank container

These surcharges plus their applicable 10% local sales tax are to be payable at destination for imports into Sokhna (i.e. collect basis) and at origin for exports out of Sokhna (i.e. prepaid basis). They are applicable for shipments moving from all Far East, Australia, Subcontinent & Middle East regions to and from Sokhna.     

We assure you that the continual imposition of this surcharge will be subjected to regular views on the situation at the port of Sokhna.
