Philippines-bound cargo: Mandatory HS Code Requirement when booking with APL
On 28 October 2019, the Philippines Bureau of Customs issued Memorandum Order No. 48-2019 for the Implementation of Cargo Targeting System.
The Customs Memorandum Order requires, among others, the mandatory declaration of 6-digit Harmonized System code (HS code, also known as HTS code) in the cargo manifest.
In compliance with the above customs order, effective today, we request that shippers of all cargoes bound for the Philippines strictly indicate the 6-digit HS Code in the “BL Description” field of the Shipping Instruction to APL.
Any penalty arising from non-compliance of the new customs regulation shall be borne by shipper/consignee.
To obtain the HS Code for your cargo, you could click here to visit the Harmonized Tariff Schedule site set up by the U.S. International Trade Commission.
We thank you for your understanding and support. For enquiries, please contact your local APL representative.
