APL introduces new Trans-Atlantic service
Fastest transit time from North Europe to U.S. Southeast
Singapore, March 2, 2006 – Global container transportation leader APL has launched a new westbound Trans-Atlantic Service – the Atlantic South Express (ASX) – offering shippers the fastest transit times between northern Europe and the U.S. Southeast.
The service expands APL’s port coverage in the United Kingdom with a call at Tilbury. It’s the first time APL has called at the London port on its Atlantic services. The ASX makes direct calls at Zeebrugge, Tilbury, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Charleston, Savannah and Miami.
The ASX is also the first APL service to call at Savannah, recognition of the Georgia port city’s growing importance to shippers as distribution centers continue to locate in the Southeast.
“We’re adjusting our services to offer customers increased weekly sailings and enhanced port coverage,” said Ken O’Brien, Director of the Trans-Atlantic Trade for APL. “That’s why we’re pleased to introduce the ASX Service and confident that customers will appreciate the convenience and reliability it gives them.”
APL offers seven weekly services in the Atlantic and offers customers multiple calls at key ports such as Charleston, eight times per week, and New York, seven times per week.
APL's Trans-Atlantic services span Canada/Europe (EMX), U.S./North Europe (APX,ATS,ATN,ASX) and the U.S./Mediterranean (MGS,IAX) markets.
