APL’s New Pacific China Express (PCX)
Boosts intermodal connections between Shanghai/Ningbo/Pusan and key North American destinations
Singapore, Shanghai: 09 May 2006 – Leading international container shipping carrier APL, has strengthened its offering for customers in the Greater China market with its new Pacific China Express (PCX) service commencing early May 2006 .
The new weekly service will depart from Ningbo (Mon) and will call at Shanghai (Tues/Weds), Pusan (Thurs/Fri ) , Los Angeles (Tues/Wed/Thurs) and Oakland (Fri). The mid-week departure from Shanghai complements existing services departing on Sunday and Monday and will offer greater flexibility for customers.
APL’s Vice President and Managing Director, North China, George Goldman said the PCX Service will provide a transit time from Shanghai to Los Angeles of 13 days , which is among the industry’s fastest .
“The PCX service will also call at Los Angeles’ Global Gateway South where it will provide a seamless link to on-dock rail to enhance the speed and efficiency of getting our customers products into inland ports and other key North American markets,” Mr Goldman said.
The Pacific China Express service builds on a track record of commitment to customers and to the Greater China region in general. Since 2005, APL has offered eight new container services from the Greater China region to the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
