The New World Alliance and Grand Alliance Suspend Joint Black Sea Service
Singapore, Tokyo, 3 February 2009 - The New World Alliance (TNWA) - APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) - and Grand Alliance (GA) - Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) - today announced the indefinite suspension of their joint Black Sea service, the EBX (East-Mediterranean/Black Sea Express).
The EBX has been operating since mid-June 2008 and deployed eight ships each with a capacity of 5,000 TEU.
The last westbound sailing of the EBX will depart Shanghai on 12 February 2009.
