APL Appoints New Head of Sri Lanka Operation

Mr. Vincent Tan

Singapore, 3 June 2004 - Global container transportation company APL has appointed a new Managing Director for its growing Sri Lanka operations.

Vincent Tan will oversee all aspects of APL's business in Sri Lanka from the company's base in Colombo.

Mr Tan replaces Maurice McKeating who has taken up a new appointment as Managing Director of APL in the Philippines.

Since joining APL's parent company, Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), as a graduate trainee in 1992, Mr Tan has held a variety of increasingly responsible positions, including several years with APL's Asia-Europe Trade team and holding a number of liner roles with APL based in Germany.

Most recently, Mr Tan was based in Singapore as Director for Westbound Asia-Europe Trade.

APL President for Asia and the Middle East, Brian Lutt, said, "Vincent's experience and knowledge of the industry we believe will be of great benefit for our customers and our operation in Sri Lanka. This is an important emerging market and he and his capable team I'm sure will continue to build our business in Sri Lanka."

Mr Tan has moved to Colombo to take up his new role.
