Provides Round the World Transport for Harley-Davidson |

Oakland,
California 15 Sep, 2003 – International container provider, APL, managed the worldwide
transport arrangements for Harley-Davidson's 100th anniversary “Open Road Tour,” which
visited Sydney, Tokyo, Barcelona, and Hamburg (pictured) during 2003. The tour concluded
in Milwaukee with over 500,000 enthusiasts for the final event over the early September
Labor Day holiday.
Final logistics of carrying the high cube containers from New Jersey to Milwaukee was coordinated
by APL Logistics, which after receiving the boxes from Hamburg, had to overcome unusual
transport obstacles as a result of the massive blackout on August 14, 2003. Terminal management
and labor worked as a team to discharge the Harley containers off the vessel once power
was restored on Friday, the 15th. Working through until midnight and early the next day,
the team made sure that all the Open Road Tour containers were off the ship, prioritized
and processed, and ready to roll out the gate together to reach Milwaukee on Monday morning,
as promised.
