APL Establishes New Link To Global Network For Irish Customers

London, May 24, 2005 – APL, the global container shipping arm of the NOL Group, is introducing a new, dedicated feeder service connecting the Republic of Ireland with APL’s extensive networks in Asia and the Americas.

The North Europe-Ireland Service (NIS) will link Dublin and Cork in Ireland with the mainline hub ports of Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

The service will commence on June 1 from Rotterdam.

APL will deploy ‘Achiever’, a 510 TEU capacity vessel on a fixed-day weekly schedule. The NIS port rotation will be Rotterdam (Wednesday), Zeebrugge (Thursday), Cork (Saturday) and Dublin (Sunday).

Henrik Knudsen, APL’s general manager for the Republic of Ireland said: “NIS is the first dedicated feeder service we have launched in Europe and reflects our confidence in and commitment to the Irish market.

“The connection at Zeebrugge with the South China Express (SCX) service will enable APL to offer Irish customers some of the fastest transit times from the expanding South China region, while the Rotterdam call provides competitive transit times from Ireland to Asia and the Americas.”

In addition to the new NIS link with Dublin and Cork, APL will continue to serve other ports in the Republic and Northern Ireland by third-party feeder services.
