Singapore, 25 February 2005 – Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), the global container transportation and logistics group, was last night named “Shipping Company of the Year” at the prestigious 2005 Lloyd’s List Awards.
Collecting the award at a gala ceremony at London’s historic Banqueting House attended by more than 350 industry figures, NOL’s Europe President, Dave Appleton said, “This award is a testament to the hard work everyone at NOL has put in to bring value to customers and to shareholders, and to take the company’s performance to new heights.”
NOL was judged to have performed particularly well over the past year, scoring highly in terms of growth, profitability and corporate responsibility.
NOL Group CEO, David Lim, said from Singapore, “We are honoured to have been acknowledged with this award. In a year that has seen the industry continue to recover from the lows of 2001 and 2002, we see it as recognition that we have our priorities right and are performing strongly compared with our peers. We have worked hard to contain costs, maximise our asset utilisation and manage our yield while never compromising the high standards we set for our service to customers.”
Other awards categories included: Security, Ship of the Year, Innovation, Shipbroker of the Year, P&I/Insurance Services, Ship Financier, Training and Shipping Lawyer of the Year.
Winners were selected by a senior panel of judges appointed by the publication.
