NOL Appoints Business Solutions' Head
Singapore, Oakland, CA, London, 26 May 2004 - Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) today announced the appointment of Jim McAdam to the position of Senior Vice President for Business Solutions. Mr McAdam was most recently Vice President and Managing Director of NOL's liner business, APL, North Asia, based in Japan - a position he had held since the end of 1999. He has been with APL more than 16 years and, as well as being an experienced liner executive, his career also includes senior roles in the logistics industry. "This balance of experience puts him in a unique position to develop strategic business solutions that deliver end-to-end, integrated transportation services to our global customers," NOL Group President and Chief Executive Officer David Lim said. "Jim is tasked with building that capability within the Group. He will work closely with the head of our liner business, Ron Widdows, and the head of our logistics business, Hans Hickler, in his new role." Mr Lim said the supply chain solutions capabilities currently within APL Logistics would form the initial core of Business Solutions, reporting to Jim. "As I indicated in February, I want to build capabilities at the Group level to sit alongside and support the work of our business units and help the company grow as a whole. This is a step toward achieving that goal," Mr Lim said. "This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in shaping the direction of the Group," Mr McAdam said. "I am pleased that I will be able to use my experience in both shipping and logistics to help develop solutions that work for customers." Mr Lim said this was a Group-level position, and Mr McAdam would be based in the company's head office in Singapore, reporting to him. Mr McAdam has a Bachelor of Arts (Finance) from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts (Asia Pacific Economics) from the University of San Francisco.
