Seoul, Singapore, Tokyo – 21 May, 2003 – The New World Alliance (TNWA),
which consists of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and MOL, announced today
that the alliance will soon resume its summer Trans-Pacific deployment.
The deployment includes the return of the PSV service, the addition of a new all-water
string, as well as port rotation enhancements to several of its existing services.
All changes ensure that TNWA customers continue to receive optimum service coverage,
frequency, and options.
PSV service
TNWA will redeploy the PSV (South China/Los Angeles Express) service with the
eastbound sailing of the APL Guatemala, V019E, from Chiwan on May 31, 2003. For
the first four weeks the PSV port rotation will be: Los Angeles, Chiwan, Hong
Kong, return to Los Angeles. On the fifth voyage, Kaohsiung will be added, starting
with the sailing of MOL Efficiency V003E (Chiwan June 28). The rotation will then
be: Los Angeles, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, return to Los Angeles. Four of
MOL’s new ships will be deployed offering 28 day turn around time. Transit time
from Kaohsiung to Los Angeles is 10 days. And transit for Hong Kong to Los Angeles
is 11 days.
NYX service
TNWA will deploy its new fixed-day, weekly, all-water NYX (New York Express) service
between Asia, Panama, and the U.S. East Coast with the eastbound sailing of the
Hyundai Pioneer, V201E from Shanghai on June 6, 2003 and the westbound sailing
of Hyundai Pioneer V201W from New York on July 8, 2003. The port rotation for
the NYX will be: Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Manzanillo (Panama),
New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Manzanillo (Panama), Yokohama, Busan, return to Shanghai.
Transit time from Kaohsiung to New York is 25 days.
TNWA will also make the following adjustments to its weekly, fixed-day Trans-Pacific
services:
SAX service
Eastbound call at Hong Kong is to be removed. Commencing with the sailing of APL
Belgium V115E (Laem Chabang May 25). The new SAX port rotation will be: Los Angeles,
Oakland, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Laem Chabang, Singapore, return to Los
Angeles.
PS2 service
Westbound call at Kobe to be removed and westbound call at Busan to be added,
commencing with the sailing of APL Thailand V066W (Busan July 2). The eastbound
call at Kaohsiung is to be removed, commencing with the sailing of APL China 071E
(Xiamen June 27), The new PS2 port rotation will be: Los Angeles, Oakland, Dutch
Harbor, Yokohama, Busan, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, return to Los Angeles.
GCX service
Port calls at Busan and Hakata are to be removed and port call at Xingang is to
be added. Commencing with the sailing of President Wilson V053E (Xingang June
29), the new GCX port rotation will be: Los Angeles, Oakland, Guam, Naha, Xingang,
Qingdao, Nagoya, Yokohama, return to Los Angeles.
PS3 service
Port rotation will be altered slightly. Vessels currently call Ningbo prior to
Shanghai. Commencing with the sailing of MOL Encore V003E (Shanghai June7), Shanghai
will be called prior to Ningbo. The new PS3 port rotation will be: Los Angeles,
Seattle, Vancouver, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Shanghai, Ningbo, Kobe, Tokyo, return
to Los Angeles.
APX service
Eastbound port call at Nagoya is to be removed and Busan is to be added. Commencing
APL Almandine V331E (Chiwan June 6). Westbound call at Los Angeles is to be added.
Commencing with the sailing of MOL Innovation V005W (Rotterdam May 29/ Los Angeles
June 24), The new APX port rotation will be: Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Busan,
Kobe, Tokyo, Manzanillo (Panama), Miami, Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, New York,
Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Felixstowe, Le Havre, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Manzanillo
(Panama), Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Kobe, return to Chiwan.
TNWA will now operate ten fixed-day weekly services in the Trans-Pacific trade.
Eight services will call the US West Coast and two services, the APX and the NYX,
will offer all-water service between Asia, Panama, and U.S. East Coast. The APX
will also offer westbound service from North Europe to Los Angeles and Oakland
and westbound service from Los Angeles and Oakland to Asia.
TNWA also operates three fixed-day services in the Asia-Europe trade and two fixed-day
services in the Trans-Atlantic trade. The three-member carriers co-ordinate some
100 containerships in the major container trades.
