Container Security Initiative (CSI)

CSI

Overview

Container Security Initiative (CSI) is a government to government initiative in which the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) signs bilateral agreements with its counterparts in different countries.

Under CSI, U.S. Customs agents are deployed at CSI ports to help identify and inspect high-risk containers before the containers are loaded on vessels bound for the U.S.

Since its inception, CSI has become part of our government's strategy to protect the Nation from the potential terrorist threat by securing maritime cargo containers. There are now over 50 operational CSI ports worldwide. See links below for additional information, list of participating ports and most recent news.
