Disruptions and delays in transportation due to HURRICANE SANDY - Update 06
Hurricane Sandy continues to cause disruptions and delays in air, rail, and road transportation and is expected to continue to have an impact in the coming week. Please be advised that there are additional storm warnings in effect from Wednesday night through Thursday with strong winds, rain and snow anticipated.
Maher Terminals is expected to have its main gate and Columbia Coastal Empty Depot open and vessel operations are expected to resume as well. Due to building congestion in the terminal, all customers are encouraged to pick up import containers if possible. Please check Maher Terminal’s website (http://www.maherterminals.com) for the most up to date information. APMT and PNCT have also resumed operations. As a general rule the port authority is not allowing truck traffic into the port after 1800 hours. Chassis supply in the metropolitan area is extremely tight.
The APL Melbourne V 022 (AEE Service) berthed at Maher terminals and departed at 0300 hours on November 6th.
The MOL Encore V 070 (APX Service) is expected to complete operations and sail on November 6th.
The APL Cyprine V 182 (SZX Service) berthed at 1300 hours on November 6th. Contingent upon labor orders, it may commence work at 1900 hours with an ETD of 100 hours on November 7th.
The Sealand Eagle V 219 (ATS Service) berth at 0900 hours on November 6th and will depart the morning of November 7th.
The Mare Atlanticum V 008 (IAX Service) berthed at 0300 hours on November 6th and will depart 0700 hours on November 7th.
All embargoes on the CSX have been lifted and efforts are being made to return to pre-hurricane Sandy conditions. Chassis supply is tight and may impact cargo flow through the local rail ramps.
All embargoes on the NS have been lifted.
The APL Union Office has now restored power and is back open. The APL Kearny Terminal remains without power but is operating a single lane gate from 0700 hours to 1500 to receive empties only. We are hopeful power will be restored by this Thursday.
