China – Arrangements for reefers bound for Shanghai and Tianjin
Dear Valued Customer,
With the extended Lunar New Year holidays and concerns regarding the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, terminal operations and pick-up of inbound containers in China has been slow. Consequently, most reefer plugs at the yards of all container terminals in Shanghai and Tianjin are already being occupied.
In view of the operational challenges, to facilitate cargo movement and keep your cargo in optimum condition, please be informed of the following arrangements:
• Reefer containers that awaiting pick-up at container terminals in Shanghai may be temporarily stored and plugged on board a vessel docked alongside.
• Reefer containers in transit to Shanghai or Tianjin may be re-routed for transshipment.
Our local office will reach out and advise details if your cargo is affected.
As we try our best to safeguard your cargo, please note that all related costs will be on Consignee's account* upon delivery.
We thank you for your kind understanding.
Thank you for your business and continued support.
*Pursuant to Provision 10 “MATTERS AFFECTING PERFORMANCE” of the carrier’s Bill of Lading Terms and Condition, please be informed that all additional costs, including but not limited to storage, demurrage and plugging costs -onshore or afloat – at the alternative discharge port or extra forwarding costs, shall be for Merchant's account and payable upon delivery. The carrier shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage to cargo resulting from circumstances totally beyond the carrier’s control, for which risks and costs shall be for Merchant’s account.
