Local Port Charges - US East Coast & US Gulf Import/Export

Customer Advisory Rates Tariffs

Dear Valued APL Customer,

Due to the significant increase in operational costs, in the event of labor unrest in the U.S. East Coast and U.S. Gulf Coast ports, American President Lines, LLC (APL) will be implementing a Local Port Charge (LPC), effective October 11, 2024.

During any period of labor unrest, including but not limited to strike, lock-out, work stoppage or slow-down, LPC will be assessed on all shipments originating and discharging in U.S. ports. This Local Port Charge shall not prejudice Carriers right to invoke Term 10 of its Bill of Lading and charge freight and costs accordingly.  In circumstances where the Carrier elects to invoke its Term 10 rights, no Local Port Charge destination shall be applied.
