APL repeats Blue Circle Award win for outstanding emissions reduction at Port Metro Vancouver
APL today received the Port Metro Vancouver Blue Circle Award for its excellent emissions reduction in 2013 under the EcoAction Program, which promotes low emissions practices for ocean-going ships entering the port.
APL has won the Blue Circle Award every year since the EcoAction Program started in 2010.
“We are very pleased to partner with the Port Metro Vancouver in meeting our commitment to sustainable shipping,” said APL Head of Global Security and Environment Dennis Yee. “In winning the Blue Circle Award again, we are encouraged to continuously improve our environmental footprint, not only in the Vancouver port area but throughout our global fleet operations.”
Last year, APL won the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Air Quality Award for lowering ship emissions in the San Pedro Bay area. In 2012, it received the Osprey Award, the US Coast Guard’s highest environmental accolade.
