APL launches new Andes Express Service to link US East Coast and South America West Coast
APL has teamed up with Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines to introduce an all-water direct service between US East Coast and South America West Coast.
The new Andes Express Service (AES) provides fixed day arrivals to major ports on a weekly basis, with the flexibility to connect to the Intra-Latin America, Asia and US West Coast markets via the Manzanillo and Balboa transshipment hubs in Panama. AES is the fastest direct service to ply the South Florida/Cartagena route, which was previously served via transshipment. Six 2,700-TEU high reefer capacity containerships have been deployed for AES, which features priority handling for refrigerated cargo.
“The AES was designed to give customers trading between the US and South America greater speed and convenience through direct and fast-transit shipping,” said APL Head of Latin America Trade Efrain Osorio. “Since our launch in early May, we have had good response from our customers. We are happy to be able to provide our customers with competitive options in the market.”
The new service port rotation is:
Manzanillo (PAN) – Jacksonville – New York – Charleston – Miami – Cartagena – Manzanillo (PAN) – Balboa – Buenaventura – Callao – Valparaiso – Callao – Buenaventura – Balboa – Manzanillo (PAN)
