Lower air pollutants
Lower your Sulphur emissions (SOx), Nitrogen emissions (Nox) and suspended particles (PM10) by 99%, 92% and 91% respectively.
Achieve your carbon-reduction goals
With a reduction in your CO2 emissions by 15% well-to-wake (whole fuel production and utilization cycle) and up to 23% tank-to-wake (the moment the fuel is used), you can reduce your carbon footprint and achieve your ambitious sustainability objectives.
Receive a declaration for your reduction in emissions
An official declaration on the emission reduction will be provided for your shipments using CLEANER ENERGY LNG.
The whole framework is verified by an independent third-party and is compliant with ISO 14020, 14021 and 14067.
REDUCE AIR POLLUTANTS AND CARBON EMISSIONS
CLEANER ENERGY LNG offers a substantial reduction of at least 15% less CO2 per container and a huge decrease in air pollutants, allowing you to have a positive impact on public health and the environment.
How does it work?
- Thanks to the Mass Balance Concept*, we are able to offer CLEANER ENERGY LNG to all our customers and across all our services.
- Mass Balance Concept is an approach to diversify our energy mix, while monitoring the amount of energy used and assigning them to specific traffics.
- A declaration, specifying the amount of LNG used and its related CO2 savings, is then shared with customers.
- To offset your remaining emissions, opt for our POSITIVE OFFSET service.

Find out what is LNG
A natural gas, LNG is stored in a liquid state in the tank after going through a liquefaction process which by cools it down to -161°C. It is then converted into a gaseous state to fuel the engines.
The CMA CGM Group uses fossil-based LNG and biomethane guarantee of origin, from renewable resources such as agricultural vegetable waste.
