Trans-Pacific businesses of ANL and US Lines to be consolidated with APL
As part of the CMA CGM Group, we are pleased to announce that the existing Trans-Pacific businesses of ANL and US Lines (“USL”) will be consolidated under the APL brand. This change is in line with the CMA CGM Group’s strategy to retain and significantly grow the APL brand, leveraging on its existing strengths and capabilities in the Trans-Pacific trade.
APL warmly welcomes onboard all customers of ANL/USL, and has started working closely with ANL/USL to ensure a very smooth and seamless transition. We will also strive to consistently provide the same high standards of service you have always received from both ANL and USL.
In order to accomplish this consolidation, all ANL/USL U.S. service contracts that exclusively have Trans-Pacific lanes will be assigned to APL. APL will honor all contractual obligations and will continue to offer the same services and service quality to which you are accustomed. To the extent that your service contract permits assignment by notice, please consider this to be that notice. If your service contract requires that you consent to this assignment, we ask that you kindly advise us by reply e-mail within 7 days of receipt of this message, if you require a formal consent to be prepared. Your present ANL/USL contact will also be available to assist you during this process. If we have not heard from you by then or if you continue to tender cargo under the contract on or after October 1, 2016, we will assume you agree to the assignment and do not require a formal consent. We have filed a petition with the FMC seeking an exemption for the amendment filing requirements that would otherwise apply to this assignment.
In preparation of the transfer, existing customers of ANL and/or USL should take note of the following:
- 1 All bookings for vessel voyages sailing on or after 1 October 2016 will be carried by APL instead of ANL or USL under an APL Bill of Lading. Click here for a list of these initial vessel voyages.
- 2 ANL’s applicable tariffs will be incorporated into APL’s AP1 global rules tariff to allow for continued applicability through the contract term after the assignment.
- 3 If you are an existing APL customer, you may start to place related shipment bookings with APL anytime from 1 September 2016. Otherwise, you would be able to start booking directly with APL upon completing an onboarding process with us.
- 4 An assigned sales representative will be in touch with you within the coming days to help with the transition and to ensure that you are duly on-boarded onto the APL system.
In the meantime, if you are new to shipping with APL, you may wish to check out our APL Starter Kit to get a quick overview of how to go about booking, shipping and transacting with APL.
Today, APL already offers an extensive scope of Trans-Pacific services, including those operated by the G6 Alliance, as well as our very own flag-ship service, Eagle Express. With the existing Ocean Three (O3) Alliance services of ANL/USL brought into the APL fold, we look forward to providing you with an expanded network of services in the weeks to come.
We thank you for your present and continued support, and should you have any questions or concerns on this announcement, please reach out to your contact at either APL, ANL or USL.
